The UK Practical Driving Test
The practical driving test is the final step to getting your full UK driving licence. It tests your ability to drive safely in real road conditions and lasts around 40 minutes. You must have passed your theory test before you can book the practical test.
What the Test Includes
Eye Sight Check
Reading a number plate at 20 metres before the test begins.
Safety / Tell Me Questions
Two vehicle safety questions — one verbal, one while driving.
General Driving
Around 40 minutes of independent driving on various road types.
Reversing Manoeuvre
One of three possible manoeuvres: parallel park, bay park or pull up on the right.
Costs & Booking
- Weekday test: £62
- Evening, weekend or bank holiday: £75

- You need your driving licence number and theory test pass certificate number
Pass Requirements
To pass you must have:
- No more than 15 minor (driver) faults
- No serious or dangerous faults
